This project aims to make accesible and familiar the old Taranto and at the same time to challenge the progressive abandonment of the city.
Initiated from a spontaneous rehabilitation of the Domus Armenorum promoted by the residents, it combines a social integration with the enhancement of the existing cultural heritage through a self-management guided-tour platform which directly involves tourists in the context of Old Taranto.
Far from historic places the ancient island of Taranto maintains the charm of an urban center still inhabited by Tarantini, keepers of the historical memory, the traditions, the language and culture. Able to give the tourists experience Different From Traditional holidays and unique.
At Domus Armenorum in Piazza Monteoliveto guests can receive information and assistance, use a free Wi-Fi, hire tablets with the Application multingue "Solidarity", an audio tour which explain the cultural heritage of the Old City.
Guests can book tours with local operators, they can also be part of the network of private houses managed by the local community sharing spaces, participating and collaborating in the construction of a new idea to experience this part of Taranto.
